About Concept Art Gallery

Concept Art Gallery in the 1980s

Established in 1972, Concept Art Gallery is proud to represent and exhibit many of the region’s most established artists, along with artists of national and international reputation. Our inventory contains Contemporary Graphics by well-known artists including El Anatsui, Richard Artschwager, Sarah Crowner, R. Crumb, Nicole Eisenman, Fred Eversley, Jeffrey Gibson, Wolf Kahn, Deborah Kass, Caroline Kent, Glen Ligon, Bruce Nauman and many others. The vintage work of photographers Luke Swank, Selden Davis, Clyde Hare, Eugene Smith and Ross Altwater is also an important regional specialty for the gallery.

Additionally, Concept conducts regular live auctions in our Regent Square gallery space. Bidders can participate in-house, via telephone, absentee bid or in real-time online through our proprietary bid.conceptgallery.com platform, Live Auctioneers, Invaluable, and Bidsquare. Concept Gallery has achieved record prices for many Contemporary Realist paintings and historic and industrial images of Pittsburgh, including the work of George Hetzel, Roy Hilton, Aaron Gorson, Samuel Rosenberg, and Henry Koerner. Since 1986, we have auctioned Modern and Contemporary Art & Design, Estate Antiques and Fine Art, and Single Owner sales including: Alcoa, The Estate of Jerry Caplan, The Emily F. Oliver Estate, the Estate of Jane Epstine, The Joseph Trees Estate, The Estate of Jane Arkus, The Estate of Henry Bursztynowicz and the Collection of Louis Talotta.

Along with auctions hosted at the gallery, we are active participants in the secondary market through brokered sales of high value art and objects. Past brokered sales include an Andy Warhol self-portrait, Anselm Ryle mixed media work, Elisabeth Frink bronze, and the single-owner sale of the Collection of Darthea Speyer, auctioned by Christie’s in Paris.

Concept Art Gallery offers in-house insured archival framing services. Our framing staff collectively share 40 years of experience handling and framing fine art, and routinely frame works for area collectors and museums. The Gallery has professional art handlers on staff to transport and install customer artwork and framing.

Concept Art Gallery is located in the Regent Square neighborhood of Pittsburgh and is easily accessed from major highways. It is also conveniently located near The Carnegie Museum of Art and The Frick Art Museum and Historical Center.
